Scientific Method
ABOUT OUR $5 CLASSES
Our $5 classes are one lesson, self paced, in depth classes that allow you to see if the Next Level Homeschool format, and the different teaching styles of each of our three instructors, matches your child's learning style! $5 classes differ from other Next Level Homeschool courses in that there are no project/assignments to turn in for grading/feedback, no report card, and no student discussion. Other than that, the format and style is what you can expect from our other courses.
$5 classes start every Tuesday during the semester. We send out class access instructions every Tuesday for all enrollments received on or before Monday. You will have access all semester (close date listed below).
CLASS DESCRIPTION
Science…there’s a method to the madness!! And in this Scientific Method class, we will explore that method, step by step! We’ll start by asking a question, and then learn how to do research and formulate a strong hypothesis. After that, we’ll move into everyone’s favorite part of the scientific method…experimentation! We’ll be conducting an easy experiment with common household items. From there, we will learn how to record our observations, analyze them, and make a conclusion. Students will also learn about acids, bases, and pH as we work through our experiment. At the end of the class, there is a quiz students can take.
If students want to take it to the “Next Level”, we encourage them to design their own experiment using the methods we just learned! This class does not receive feedback from an instructor if a project is done, however the instructor is always available via email to answer questions!
CLASS FORMAT
Each lesson consists of a fully narrated PowerPoint presentation with images and videos to enhance the topics. Students will have access to our learning management system, Canvas, for viewing their lesson, printing worksheets, and taking quizzes. $5 classes do not have graded assignments or teacher feedback.
