This is a general overview of how our self-paced classes work. There may be variations depending on the class.
LESSON PLANS: All lesson plans for the entire course are released on the Tuesday after you enroll by 5pm Pacific Time. There is no “live” component to this class and the only deadline is the final end date of the course, which allows students to work completely at their own pace.Lesson plans are a combination of power point, graphics, video, and audio. Each slide is fully narrated for students who prefer to hear material read to them.
ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments are not required in self-paced courses and have no instructor feedback, however possible assignments that reinforce the material learned are provided. In general, students have a choice of projects to choose from for each lesson, and can present their assignment in a variety of formats, such as written, video, posters, models, Minecraft, skits, songs, etc… The sky is the limit! We want students to use their own skills, talents, and passions to demonstrate their knowledge! Check out our facebook, instagram, and youtube channels for examples of student projects.
QUIZZES: Online quizzes are available each week as a tool for students to see how well they understand the material. Format is generally multiple choice, matching, true/false, and fill in the blank.
GRADES: Grades are only given by the system for automatically graded items such as quizzes, lab assessments, etc… There are NO grades given for assignments, because there is no teacher interaction.
