This 6 week course focuses on the 1937 novel by author Zora Neale Hurston, Their Eyes Were Watching God, a classic of the Harlem Renaissance. The novel explores themes of race, gender roles, femininity, and freedom.
In this 1 week course, students will read and explore a short story by American author Shirley Jackson, and then we will explore how this story has influenced other famous works in American culture (such as Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games series!)
This 4 week “quick guide” to the universe will introduce students to the basics of our solar system and beyond- planets, moons, stars, meteors, comets, and more! And LOTS of hands on activities!!
